We have been carrying out work with a strong emphasis on quality and consistency, operating across several fronts in Brazil. Our members, from different states, value privacy and have been supporting us in this mission. Our focus has been on topics such as self-custody, DEX, and education through Zashi.

NOTES:

I would also like to point out that much of the work happening in Brazil has not been included in the global community summaries. While this is not something we are overly concerned about, it is important to stress that there cannot be divisions, after all, Zcash is one. Community members must come together, not drift apart.
Too often, we see actions that seem designed only to give the impression of work being done, but in reality, they distract from what truly matters. For this reason, I call for attention, and above all, unity across communities. After all, when the circumstances were different, only a few were truly standing on the front lines of this battle.

Highligths

Many of our activities in August were shared on Instagram, through stories and posts, as well as through in-person meetings. Those who followed along could clearly see the dedication and excellent work being done.

At Blockchain Rio 2025, the largest crypto event in Brazil, our team and community members were present. We conducted several interviews, organized local activities, distributed giveaways, and delivered 50 ZecFaucet coupons. In addition, we raffled a Ledger during the event.

Design Team Iogy & Mine August Report

Here we are at our 3rd Blockchain Rio!

It’s always great to participate in in-person events; we truly felt the heat of the moment! We could sense, especially from those who have been in the crypto market longer, the need for a return to cypherpunk concepts and the urgency for privacy.
We were able to reconnect with friends we’d made in previous editions and added a ton of new ones. We had countless heated discussions about privacy, freedom, rights, regulation, the current situation in Brazil…

We adopted a really cool interview format! AAmandita was our Privacy Reporter and conducted the interviews, which can be viewed on YouTube Shorts and posted on X. It’s a learning experience and a privilege to be able to experience the entire process—recording, editing, and dissemination.

We spoke at booths of projects using ZKP and saw that the issue of privacy is in vogue, but no one knew which protocol was the first to implement it or who Sean Bowe was (:p).
Ultimately, our work isn’t just about adopting Zcash; its history and its Dreamteam of developers are also important, because it’s very pioneering and started as a Bitcoin fork.

We created some new giveaways and others already known at events.

We personally met MLC_SAP, a very active member of the Brazilian community. We also met pac_mcz that day, who literally jumped on board and helped us a lot at the event, joined the community, and even completed a task on Dework.

We ran the ledger giveaway and distributed a card with the giveaway rules.
We ran the Zashi giveaway in conjunction with the Zecfaucet Coupon (another of James’s amazing creations), which was limited to 50 orders for the event, worth USD $2 in ZEC, so users could experience the wallet for the first time as soon as they installed it. It was a two-day event totaling almost 20 hours of standing, practically only sitting down for lunch, but it was totally worth it, and we’re excited to see what new things we’ll bring to the next one.

Zingolib-Wrapper

Rewritten using nj-cli
- The wrapper was fully rewritten to use nj-cli. Expensive calls can now be executed asynchronously, preventing them from blocking the main Node.js thread.
Upstream dependency issues
- While updating to zingolib 2.0.2, a few compatibility issues with Nu6.1 still remain. These will need to be resolved upstream.

ZecFaucet

Transparent address support on testnet
- Users requested support for legacy transparent addresses (t-addresses) on the testnet faucet. (The testnet faucet is currently offline because Nu6.1 has activated on testnet, and zingolib has not yet updated its zcash-protocol crate.)
Upgrade to zingolib 2.0.2
- ZecFaucet was updated to use zingolib 2.0.2 via the rewritten zingolib-wrapper.
Balance reservation:
- The faucet now reserves a balance for coupon redemptions, ensuring that the faucet balance cannot be drained by normal claims.
Anti-fraud mechanisms:
- Two new measures were added to reduce automated and fraudulent claims:
  - A sliding puzzle captcha.
  - A global cooldown window, during which the faucet temporarily refuses new claims after heavy usage.

Infrastructure & Community Tools

BTC-Pay Server with Zcash support
- Installed and tested BTC-Pay Server configured for Zcash payments. A deployment was successfully set up for Zcash Brasil. Plans are in place for a future tutorial or workshop to help others integrate BTC-Pay with Zcash.
Zcash Vote Server
- With guidance from @dismad, we successfully configured and deployed the server after a full day of work. It’s a pleasure to contribute by running a piece of the core infrastructure required for the coin holders poll to take place.
