Against, because it took me at most 2h to get a server anonymously on Njalla and configure it. What I did was definitely not worth USD$3500.
Against, because it just made me happy to have an opportunity to play a small part in the governance process. I expect we have many people that would do the same here given clear instructions (it’s not rocket science). Instead of having discussions on how to do all this on Signal, a good guide and a public chat would have much better served that purpose. I would gladly do it again personally, but we need to establish a voting schedule because life keeps me busy in other ways as well.
Against, because I definitely do not think we should pay wage level compensations for such a simple operation. A small stipend to compensate for the server rental fee should suffice.
I guess you missed the countless day and nights we spent compiling, testing, debugging, sending PRs, recompiling, migrating from VPS services, meeting multiple times on zoom calls, and so on …
I respect and understand some of your points, but if this retroactive grant is approved, you can always donate you part (ideas: ZecFaucet, ZecHub)
If that’s the case, and I don’t doubt you, it should not have been submitted the way it has been. As it is, you are creating a precedent for being compensated a lot of money just for running a binary, that’s ridiculous. I would not have been against a compensation corresponding to getting the development of the governance system in place, quite the opposite as I am really thankful for that work.
That’s my intention, but I am hopeful this won’t pass because of the bad precedent it would create.
I don’t really see any reason to save ~40 ZEC (from the miners’ taxation, the money which is not even yours) to diminishing the work of people who helped with the very same voting you are now using against them…
You are referring to precedent, but I see it differently. Each voter can make a new decision every time, so no precedent is being set. People are not stupid. They can judge for themselves, regardless of earlier voting outcomes. I am optimistic about this, really
That’s me here in this proposal. I would know how many minutes I’ve spent on this. 14 days of doing nothing for $3500?
Aside from setting the wrong precedent, it’s also disrespectful to put this proposal with invented numbers on the desk of stakeholders.
edit: apologies @Shawn those last few messages don’t belong in this thread. Would you mind assigning those to the more appropriate one ( Zcash Community Voting Authorities )? Thank you.
We’ve put in a lot of work, perhaps more than the community can see.
This. Thanks for participating.
Couldn’t disagree more, I’ll let the community decide who is disrepectful. Curious how you made a it point to state your disproval TWICE, in two seperate places, really driving it home I see.
The community should know @outgoing.doze couldn’t get their node to sync and dropped out early. Full disclosure. Pretty rich of you to claim this is easy
vote confirmed.
My botton line is, I am super grateful for all vote auth’s who: showed up, tried, and/or completed the elections. The work was done, and imho a small bounty seems warranted.
And that’s another false statement. Keep it up @dismad .
I initially couldn’t get my node to sync because you’ve all worked on an unnecessary private Signal group, instead of releasing any kind of manual. You’re just in the wrong all the way mate.
At the end of the day, all the community needs to know is this:
@outgoing.doze @ 14 days = $3500
I can attest that you, @dismad, are just inventing numbers. There’s nothing behind those “14 days” aside from maybe 45 minutes of work. That’s very unprofessional and disrespectful to stakeholders.
Of course I am, this has never happened before? We are trying something new, and my idea, was to reward those who stepped up, you included. Im sorry you dont want to be include in that. We can agree to disagree but I do appreciate your vote none-the-less.
your idea was to get a big payday, you’re the one benefiting the most out of this proposal. You are trying to gaslight the community, it’s just not working out right now.
No, my idea was to try something new to help find new members of the community who may want to step up in the future. The idea came from the neighbouring community (Namada) who also did a similar thing. I can assure you I didn’t do all this extra work through 2025 because I thought I was going to get extra money for it.
Lets move on, you already voted no :), and to those who feel differently I apprecaite the support.
