Zcash Türkiye University Tour 2026

We want to start a project that is both exciting and experimental for us. As Zcash Türkiye, we are taking the first step toward a university-focused tour across Türkiye.

In this first phase, we plan to visit 10 universities, meet students directly, give them the opportunity to experience Zcash themselves, and lay the foundations for a long-term Zcash community at universities.

So far, we have contacted the blockchain and technology clubs at 28 universities, and the response has been very positive. We now want to start with a 10-university pilot tour and use what we learn from this experience to build a broader university network.

All events will be organized in collaboration with the official blockchain clubs of the universities, and the events will take place directly on university campuses. This will allow us to introduce Zcash to students in their own university environment and connect directly with existing student communities.

The events will not be limited to a presentation about Zcash. We will talk about financial privacy, shielded transactions, and the everyday use cases of Zcash, while also helping students set up their own Zodl wallets and complete their first shielded transactions.

We believe this project can introduce many new people interested in blockchain to the Zcash ecosystem and, over time, bring new people into the community who can contribute to the ecosystem in different ways.

The initial schedule is planned from the second week of October through the third week of November. Final event dates and the order of the route will be shaped based on the status of the proposal.

We would be happy to hear your feedback, suggestions, and especially your ideas on how we can make this first pilot phase even better.

While the proposal is still under review, we’re continuing to work and plan behind the scenes.

We’re currently in contact with 10 different universities. We had initially planned our first event for October 16, but since the proposal process is still ongoing, there may be a slight delay.

At the same time, we’re working on new ideas to make the University Tour much broader and more sustainable.

For example, we could create a dedicated Campus Community on Telegram for university events. This wouldn’t be limited to Türkiye. It could bring together Zcash communities organizing university events in different countries around the world.

University students from different countries could connect in the same community, share their experiences, and develop projects together.

If the proposal is approved, we’re already preparing to take these steps and turn these ideas into reality.

If you have connections with universities in your area, recently organized an event at a university, or are planning one soon, we could turn all of this into the starting point for a much larger global community. :shield:

Hey, @Batuhan ! This is an AWESOME proposal!

Like you, I believe that universities are the best breeding ground for the adoption and launch of a new product. And while Zcash isn’t exactly “new,” it is a novelty to many people.

Those future professionals will use Zcash. And from that pool, we could see the emergence of developers, users, partners, collaborators—the list is endless!

I support your initiative. I have something similar in mind here in Spain for 2027, so it would be a pleasure to chat with you.

I think the university initiative is a great idea, and i fully support expanding ZCASH adoption and education in universities. My concern is around ownership & structure. We already have established regional communities, Zcash East Africa, South Africa, Nigeria,Ghana ETC that understands their local university ecosystems and have already been doing this kind f work.

I would therefore suggest that this remains an open Zcash ecosystem initiative rather than becoming something owned or coordinated exclusively by one regional team. The Turkiye team can absolutely lead the university tour in Turkiye, while other regional communities can run similar programs in their respective regions.

If there is value in connecting these efforts globally, we could have a shared global framework, resources, branding and knowledhe sharing channel allowing each regional community to own execution in its territory and actually this would be global rather than just creating a situation where one community becomes the gatekeeper for university activities worldwide

That is already the ultimate goal. However, there is currently no pilot program in place that we can use as a starting point. That is why we believe we need to take the first step ourselves.

After completing the university tours in Türkiye, our goal is to bring the university students we reach into a shared group and then encourage other communities to do the same with university students in their own countries.

If we achieve the level of engagement we expect and students from universities around the world begin joining the group, we can then move toward a more systematic plan. At that stage, all communities could come together to discuss topics such as official materials, common working principles, coordination, and other aspects of how such a global initiative could operate.

As the Zcash Türkiye team, we want to be the team that lays the first foundation for this process. However, we believe that the coordination and activities that follow can be managed collectively and equally by the broader community.

Once the proposal is approved and we begin the planning process, we will publish a detailed update explaining the system we have in mind, the different stages, and how we plan to move forward.

I think its important to recognize that university outreach is already happening in other regions. For example, Zcash East Africa has already done activities in three universities, and i belive other regional communities are doing similar work.

I think the Turkiye team should focus on building the university initiative in Turkiye, just as other communities are doing in their regions. Later, all these regioanl efforts can be connected globally and coordinated collectively.

There’s no need for one region to become the starting point when the work is already happening across the ecosystem

Either you don’t understand what I’m saying, or we’re talking about completely different things. Anyway.

I am understanding you perfectly I am just having contrary opinion… regions have existing telegram communities and they haven’t finished growing them so the most ideal thing is to grow those community not minding whether the members are from campus or not

What different would your campus telegram community offer that regional community isn’t I think i would like to understand “anyways”

Great. Every team already has its own local communities, and everyone is trying to grow those communities. We agree on that.

What we’re talking about here is a little different. We want to create a network specifically for university students, particularly students who are interested in Blockchain.

It would be a space where students studying at universities in different countries and speaking different languages can come together around Zcash, meet each other, and potentially work together on Zcash-related projects across different countries. This space would be completely decentralized and would not be affiliated with any particular local community.

I was actually going to mention this in the coming days. As the Zcash Türkiye team, after our events, we are planning to provide around $100 each month to one of the university Blockchain clubs participating in this network and encourage them to organize a small Zcash-focused event. Nothing huge, just a small meetup, presentation, workshop, or something similar. I think this would be a good way to keep the network active while also continuously sharing new information and developments.

We also have ideas like having one student representative at each university.

So the main difference is this: Unlike the existing Telegram communities, this group would not be focused on a specific country or tied to an existing community. It would specifically bring together university students who are interested in Blockchain.

We are already going to implement this in Türkiye. There would also be nothing preventing students from other communities or countries from joining if they want to. We are not asking for any funding for this Telegram group or for managing it.

The goal is to introduce university students to the Zcash ecosystem, encourage them to think about and build things around Zcash, help them make new connections and friendships, and occasionally provide small incentives to keep that interest alive.

Also, thanks to Vibe Coding, more and more people are starting to build their own projects. For example, you can look at the Rlay Hub event. We organized a mini hackathon at an event with around 50–60 participants, and 10 different projects came out of it.

I think that alone is a strong enough reason to bring university students who are interested in building and experimenting closer to the Zcash ecosystem.

I understand the distinction now, and I think the student-focused global network is a good idea. My only concern was making sure the existing work by regional communities is recognized and not duplicated or positioned as if it’s something entirely new.

If the network remains open, decentralized, and complementary to the regional communities, I don’t see an issue with it. In fact, the regional communities could contribute students and university clubs from their regions while continuing to run their own local initiatives.

Absolutely. That’s exactly the structure we have in mind as well.

The goal is not to replace or compete with any existing regional communities. We want to create an open network specifically for university students that works alongside the existing communities.

Each regional community can continue running its own local university initiatives. At the same time, students from those communities can join the global network and connect with students from other countries.

I think if we keep it decentralized and community driven, it could become something really valuable over time. Thanks for understanding the distinction!
