The old Zcash mining funds (generated from the early days of the blockchain), but in the current environment at the end of 2025, it is impossible to find a reliable wallet or tool to completely scan and restore these funds from block height 0. Tried options such as YWallet (cannot start from 0), ZecWallet Full Node (obsolded and unavailable), zcashd (officially abandoned, switched to Zebrad but limited support), etc. all have compatibility problems, causing the balance to be displayed as 0 or cannot be migrated to the Sapling/Orchard address.
zcashd was not abandoned yet, it still works. I think it’s the only option you have. You will need to give us more details on what specific problems you are facing
Hello! As Conrado said, Zcashd is the way to go. In the case you were mining from the early days, Zcashd has the adequate functionality to restore your funds.
You can also get support directly from Zcashd maintainers in the R&D discord channel
You could also maybe try Zebra+Zkool in Full Client mode which is a setting in Zkool to bypass the need for a lightwallet server and connect directly to a Zebra node. Doing this with a full rescan from 0 ““may”” query that pre-sapling tx info that lightwalletd wont. The process is the same as setting a custom light wallet server but instead, you just put in the zebra rpc address and de-select the Light Node setting shown.
Ledger’s 24-bit mnemonic words, there is a large number of UTXO (unspent transaction output) in the ZEC account, which is the mining income obtained in that year, and they are all old versions of UTXO that Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) cannot support at present. There are two addresses, one address fund can be seen, and the other address fund cannot be seen, how can I see another address fund?
You’'ll likely need to use zcashd to recover, which like mentioned still works except that wallet is not easy to use.
Just use zkool in its standard config for Ledger. Create a new account, choose restore, enter the seed phrase, deselect Sapling & Orchard, set birth height to 1, let the app scan for additional transparent addresses. Then sync.
This shouldn’t take more than a few seconds, since your wallet has no shielded pools.
I tried to mine early, but it still didn’t show.
How to use it?
Is your balance 0 when you check it on a block explorer, or is it positive?
You can see the balance when you check the old address in the block browser, but you can’t see the new address. What kind of couple is this?
Addresses separate balances. Only transparent is visible on chain anyways but pasting the address into the explorer will only show you funds held in that address. You would paste the other address in the explorer to see its balance.
I have an old ZEC address that still shows a balance on the blockchain explorer. However, when I restore my wallet using the 24-word seed phrase, that old address doesn’t appear — the wallet only displays a new address with 0 balance. How do I get the wallet to recognize and display my old address so I can spend/transfer the funds from it?
What wallet did this seed originally come from?
This seed phrase was originally from a Ledger Wallet
And this did not work?
It won’t work
