What other nodes can I add? Or should this just happen by itself?
I don’t seem to be able maintain a connection to mainnet.z.cash for very long at the moment…

same here… No connection whatsoever…
Seems like zcash dev turned off mainnet bootstrap server. Can’t start new peer from fresh install either.
I was doing a fresh binary package install about 12 hours ago. Updating my local copy of the blockchain was slow (and I don’t know if that was due to the internet connection I was using) but mainnet.z.cash got there eventually.
