Asus X99 A II for mining with 6 gpus

Hi guys.

Does anyone know please, will this mainboard recognize 6 gpus in windows 10 x64 ?

Thank you

It should be fine, it’s a premium board.

If you don’t already have it though that’s just overkill and expensive

ASRock H81 Pro BTC with a couple of risers will be cheaper.

Thank you very much… i ve that board already at home :-/

I just hope, that the higher amper electrical current does not kill it… what do you think ?

I have an Asus X79 (older socket) premium board… It won’t die easily (if at all) believe me

Just use USB powered risers to be safe.

Thank you, well i have these one:

but do i need to power them through the molex as well? or it is not necessary. Thank you very much man

I had that board and it is not that durable for mining. Be very careful with it or make sure you can RMA it. It would make more sense to make a gaming PC out of it than a miner to be honest. Just pick up an H81 ProBTC for $70 USD and a cheap G1820 CPU

Plug the power supply’s Molex directly into the riser. Don’t use the flimsy SATA to Molex converter they include.

what is when i do not power the risers at all ? the gpus have an extra cable from the supply…

Plug the PSU’s molex directly into the riser.

You have to power the risers.

ok… and why is it needed to power the risers as well? what could happen?

USB Powered risers don’t work without molex power because the usb wire is data only.

ok thank you very much… i really appreciate your help

I’ve had (4) GPUs working but not sure if more than 4 will work, it was really finnicky to get (4) working:

40-Lane CPU-
3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or x16/x16, x8/x16/x8) *1
28-Lane CPU-
3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16, x16/x8, x8/x8/x8) *2
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode) *3
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 (x1 mode) *3
