Good morning community, I need some advice.
First of all, in my country electricity is cheap enough to not worry about it, and plan to overclock GPUs or try to get the highest values physically possible without damaging any equipment.
I’m gonna build a 7 GPU rig to mine ZEC and maybe ETH whenever the price difference is enough to switch temporarily. I was planning on buying R9 fury’s but they’re getting real hard to find, so I started looking into 1070s for ~$420, which mine almost the same with OC (~480 sol/s). Recently found some used Zotax Amp! 1080s from Amazon warehouse deals for ~$470 which seems like a very good deal, but not sure if they’re any better or how much they mine in either cryptocurrency, or if it’s worth spending more for 1080 Ti’s which not sure how much ZEC or ETH they mine.
ANY advice is very much appreciated! Thanks for reading
Regular 1080 is not good at all for mining Eth, hash rate = 18~20
1070 is ok for both, 28~31 Eth, 430~460 Zec
1080Ti is another story, 31 Eth (even when TDP is set all the way down to -50%) and 712/Sol Zec stock.
Between 1070 and 1080 ti with heavy OC, which one is more recommended in the long run? Best bang for the buck? I found some 1070s for around $400 and 1080 ti ~$700.
those prices are almost spot on with the hashrates they give…
your going to get 400-450 with a 1070 and 700-750 with a 1080ti.
if you go 1080ti you save on motherboard and CPU as you pretty much build 1 rig instead of 2 for a similar hash
1070 however can mine more coins better than both 1080 and 1080ti. As Cryptohminer pointed out, 1070 is better for ethereum hash/cost of GPU and it is also better for LBRY
I’ve actually been waiting for Vega forever, but thought the release date for gaming/mining edition was moved ahead with the Frontier edition anounced for June. I appreciate any information
Hi cryptomined, I really appreciate your reply. Cryptohminer also mentioned Vega, I though this was moved towards Q4 of 2017. Should I wait for it? I want to ACTUALLY mine, but don’t want 8 rigs of 470s, want 2 or 3 of something powerful that would give my investment back in the next few months, and then have a good income
I think I’ll make a rig of 1070s while I wait for Vega, because so far my experience with AMD is that the GPU gets released and possible to get 2-3 months after. I’ve been eyeing on Zotac 1070s (Regular, AMP or AMP extreme) since the Strix are a bit expensive ATM. Would those be as good?
The funny thing is I’m from Venezuela, so electricity cost doesn’t make a difference for me, that’s why I want to OC as much as possible, as much hashes I can mine from these cards, the better!
@carlosabia
If power is no issue, then also consider Radeon Pro Duo, approx $799
It’s a dual fury GPU in a single card and water-cooled.
900+ zec, and 60+ Eth
I’ve heard of those, also heard what you mentioned which is it won’t accept more than 2, that kinda kills it for me
Vega will be perfect for me, but I don’t want to sit around and wait. I saw someone who got 495 sol/a stable with Zotac AMP! Extreme 1070s, that sounds pretty good, might give it a shot. But also saw someone reaching 770 sol/s with a 1080 ti, so I keep going back to square lol.
I want 7 powerful GPUs in one rig, but also don’t want to spend money unwisely.
pretty amazing sol/w ! i’m in a country where electricity is expensive, so this could be a very interesting option for me. i see that you got 7 gpu’s in this rig, what kind of power supply/supplies are you using?
