This topic can serve as a thread to compile & discuss both past, present & future topics & convos regarding the community’s vision for the state of this forum & it’s moderation. I would like a place where the community can discuss their ideas & thoughts regarding how discourse on the forum can/should be conducted. Please post/link past comments & topics as the one’s below are just chosen by me to help start the convo & refresh the community of past conversations that are in separate threads…
This post is to help Zcash Community Forum participants understand how the moderators approach the Community Guidelines .
As we have made the transition from the forum being owned and operated by the Zcash Company, to the forum being owned and operated by the Zcash Foundation, there have been some questions about who the moderators are and how the moderation team applies the rules.
Regarding who is a moderator
The Zcash Foundation bears legal responsibility for what goes on in this forum and u…
Through out this thread you will see reference to the zcash community CoC, this is actually the ECC zcash Contributors Code of Conduct, and not the zcash Community Forums Code of Conduct. The forum CoC is controlled by the zfnd
edit: please note. my post was not the one removed. the removed post was in response to a post I made and was aimed at me, calling me a clown.
I am not 100% sure this is the right place to post this. I can repost this to github if you like. I am pretty sure this upd…
I am concerned about the health of this forum. I believe that members of this forum are using it for reasons that are unclear, but are certainly unhealthy for Zcash.
I don’t understand the motives of those that spend significant time here but have no affiliation with the project. They have no holdings, they do not mine, they don’t support the community elsewhere, and they do not develop software. Instead, they routinely sow seeds of discord and they surface FUD they know to be untrue. And they …

To help foster a more community led forum the two moderators from the ECC have stepped down and are no longer moderating. We want to thank @Daira and @Elenita for their years of contributions and look forward to their …

In the course of recent threads and behind-the-scenes discussion about them, it became increasingly clear that the non-ECC moderators and I were not on the same page regarding this issue.
As far as I am concerned, the absen…
The Zcash Community Forum has, and continues to have, many constructive conversations about building a censorship-resistant privacy technology ecosystem. The Zcash Foundation wants to see these positive conversations continue, while minimizing other conversations that are unproductive.
As the entity responsible for the forum , ZF has to occasionally use its administrative powers, even though we prefer to leave it at arm’s length and moderated by independent contributors as much as possible.
We’…
This is a mechanism based on the use of authority to censor, rather than speech against speech which doesn’t require authority.
Authority to move topics to a subforum should be considered strictly less than authority to ban/delete a topic outright.
The principle of least authority, which is usually for computer security but applicable here too, is that the least authority possible for any task should be used. Because it results in the least damage when misapplied.
Any justification based ju…
