Error: This version has been deprecated as of block height 1978924. You should upgrade to the latest version of Zcash

Hi!

I’m running zcashd v. 5030050 build v5.3.0 and protocolversion 170100 on Windows 10.

Zcashd write me error message:
“Error: This version has been deprecated as of block height 1978924. You should upgrade to the latest version of Zcash.”

Where can I download new zcashd version for windows?

Thanks, Alessandro

Presuming you’re using zecwallet full node you should know that it has not been updated since then and the only option to run on windows currently would be running the native linux version through wsl2

Thanks John!

I understand that I have to migrate Zec Fullnode Windows-install to Linux-install.

Ok, this is not a problem but only hours in works. Now I need to get manual for migration.

Can you help me for get these instructions?

Ale

These are the most current directions. I just ran through this build process a few days ago.

It probably boils down to moving your Zcash data folder for the node from inside of the appdata floder to the new location inside of the linux subsystem tree. Im not sure exactly which folder its in but is equivalent to the .zcash folder in Linux. The wsl2 location is hard to reach sometimes so just run ‘explorer.exe .’ and it will open the explorer at that location

Depending on how you compiled zcashd in WSL, the .zcash directory might end up in a place that you can’t directly copy through explorer. But if you do a search on .zcash, it should show you the location and worst case, you can temporarily grant “write” rights to that directory so Windows can copy the files over.

Wsl2 did bring VM management and removed performance across OS filesystems… The mnt is the c drive so i’m not sure

The easiest workaround was to flip back to wsl (1) to move the files. It wasn’t the most elegant solution, but it worked.
