Miner- Optiminer/Zcash GPU miner v1.7!

The “greedy bustard” would have to better Claymore’s Windows hash rate, and reduce his commission, in order to get any Windows market share. If he were to do that, then the linux optiminer would also benefit. There’s nothing “greedy” about a talented person asking for compensation for their hard work. If it isn’t hard, then why don’t you just write your own miner?

I think it works now, yes. There is 1 issue (#1871) logged at github though about sending to multiple t-addresses from a z-address.

Looks like he’s taken a break :frowning:

I am working hard. Can’t hang out on the forum at the same time as optimizing hash rates

Optimizing opencl kernels is extremely difficult work. You can see how slow the progress is on the open source version of the miners where multiple ppl work on. That said, I can promise you more optimizations in the future (it’s in my name!), it just needs more time.

Version 0.5.0 is now in full testing, both for Windows and Linux. It still needs some fixes but should be out until the end of the week. I can see 5-10% hash rate improvements on my cards.

i switched to claymore because of the dropping of the gpu and i get 22 sol more per card, that is 154 sol more then with optiminer and no gpu drop or interruption of service with a 7 card rig

can you top that?

I’m sure @Optiminer is going to do his best. If that’s not good enough for you, then stay with Claymore and Windows. Do you think someone is going to lose sleep if you don’t use optiminer? It’s just a choice. We’re talking a few % hash rate mining ZEC, not a solution to world hunger.

hm interesting that a challenge request results in a attack

I’m not attacking you. I’m just saying it’s a simple choice and nothing more. Why does he need your “challenge”?

Why do you assume it is my challenge.
The challenge is to provide the nix users with the same quality and power as currently the Windows users are receiving.
I see nothing wrong to have a talented programmer be challenged to provide what others already have.

OK. Have a great day!

hey, what is the speed of r9 390 on Optiminer 0.4.0?
thanks

Not all of us are down with “The Cult of Claymore”.

Serious miners/farms use Linux. Claymore isn’t developing for Linux so maybe isn’t relevant to this thread.

Optiminer is well aware of Claymore’s releases and capabilities and has already stated further optimizations are to come.

I agree on the Linux part. I’m curious what they say is the most efficient Linux miner. Seems like the rates vastly differ?

In terms of hash per watt of power, Claymore is way ahead.

For next version, please optimize cpu usage.

I have tested optiminer on a 4x R9 290 rig with low-power athlon 170U CPU (weakest possible CPU compatible with ddr3 boards), and the load is at 1.8

Dual Core athlons are at 0.7 load. Not terrible, but can be a lot better. When load is above 1.0, hashrate throttles.

it has nothing to do with any culture and it has nothing to do with what is better “nix” or windows.
Fact is that at the moment the windows version “claymore” is way ahead of the linux version “optiminer” and in my opinion a serious miner follows the profit and not a old what is better fight.

If optiminer manages to get a stable running version with a higher hash rate out then i will use linux again and vice versa
Anything else would be a stupid business move

Agreed. All my rigs have both Ubuntu 16.04 and Windows 10. I mine with the one that will help me get to ROI the fastest.

Right now that’s win10 and Claymore 7. Used to mine on ubuntu and zogminer, silentarmy. Tried optiminer with one rig for a while, went back to Claymore. Optiminer dropped a GPU every once in a while and just doesn’t give the same sol/s.

If you do “business”, you dont have 5 or 10 rigs.
I think all bigger miners use PXE boot with diskless rigs (me too).
Very easy to setup. Dont know it its possible with Windows, if yes, it would be very, very complicated. Don forget the licensing problems.

Optiminer is working on it, i can wait a few days, there is no alternative yet.

Version 0.5.0 release for Linux and Windows!

Please see https://github.com/Optiminer/OptiminerZcash#intensity for tuning intensity for optimal hash rates!
