In a moment of rare clarity I feel that these words are important.
CALM DOWN!
We are at day-0 of a 30+ day slow start of Zcash. It’s exciting but for gods sake go about your life. This is not a 100m Dash, it’s a damn marathon.
Very little coin will be mined early, price going insane has no real impact on anyone but a few people selling a few coin for a lot of money early. Take a step back and realize that mining is not a 24-hour vendetta.
In the immortal words of… someone. Chill the fuck out. Missing a few hours or mining is nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero.
Now enjoy the idea and take a deep breath. And congratulate the Zcash team when due. And keep your enthusiasm going, but realize that you can also take a nap.
FYI. I have 100+ GPU and i haven’t even installed a miner yet. In fact, I’m not even stressed about it.
@DanLar75 Couldn’t agree more. I have 100+ GPUs, as well, and I’m going to sit back until a decent GPU miner comes along. I figure the serious hash won’t come on until perhaps the third or fourth week out, but who knows? Very curious to see what happens to Ethereum, ETC, and BTC/LTC network hash rate and price after Zcash gets going.
I could see ETC being substantially weakened, and the diff drop a decent amount for ETH, making it more profitable to mine compared to now. Monero is likely to take a hit, and I think it already has seen some of that. I see Zcash as a more nimble, dynamic version of BTC, but I don’t think it obsoletes BTC, but rather relieves it of trying to do things it wasn’t intended to do. It may well turn out that Zcash takes enough load off the BTC network that BTC really doesn’t need to increase the block size, etc. BTC becomes the vault, Zcash becomes the everyday movement of anonymous funds. Both of those roles are a complement to ETH, not a threat. I’ve always viewed ETH and BTC to be a good pairing, a good (potential) partnership. That’s (apparently) not the popular view
i can confirm i am running 40Sol with R9 Nano (non tweaked) on ubuntu 16.04 with AMD Pro drivers 16.30
is someone able to mine with Flypool it seems the only way to mine on miner
As much as I am exciting about it (very exciting), I am also telling myself that I have to think straight and not letting foolish thoughts bringing me to do something really foolish (like buying a large brand new rig without even paying attention to what worth it or not).
So, following your (and others) clever advices, I am calming down, re-thinking about this(pros & cons…).
I also will ask questions to people who seams to be serious and gives good advices. I also will give a close look at what will happen in the next few days and weeks.
In other words, I will take time to plan the “best” strategy that will suites me on the long term, and then, make decisions and act accordingly.
@cascadiacrypto wow thank you so much for the extensive testing! So silentarmy works on all your GCN 2nd gen cards, and on none of your GCN 1st gen cards. That’s a good data point.
