yeah, whatever. Not everyone has the time to waste. Ethos gave me a solid stable platform for ETH mining when all the people I knew were messing around with Windoze trying to work out which driver to use with which version, blah, blah.
I like it because it “just works” and I can confidently leave my rigs to mine.
You seem to have some personal grudge against ethos so I wouldn’t bother aguing with you about it, but what’s the big deal? How much do you think people spend on Windoze licenses? For what Ethos does for me I think it’s cheap. I don’t have to bother spending my time improving stability and/or performance because the people you refer to as “goons” do it all for me. Plus they always help me whenever I ask them to.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but mine is different.
I gladly pay for the distro because of the convenience and time savings. Considering you can buy the software preloaded on and SSD for less than I can buy a SSD that makes the choice simple. I will grant that the provided SSD is small, but it is sufficient for its purpose.
The way I see it the time saved versus doing it myself, the centralized configuration ability, and lets not forget the portal to monitor the state of your miners and the historical graphing make it an easy choice.
Each person must make their own decision based on their goals and how much they value their time.

If someone said something rude about the Chinese it was probably because huge Chinese mining farms with state sponsored free power are making small scale decentralized mining very difficult for average people.

Ethos has made my life easier and I find all the people involved to be friendly and helpful. Maybe you should ask yourself why you feel so strongly about this?
