Thank you for your detailed response to my questions. I’m actually trying to avoid anything where I will need to import or enter my seed phrase. And it looks like this wallet is no different. I thought it will be easier to use like MetaMask for example. Probably the easiest and safest solution will be to buy Trezor like someone above suggested, but that will put me out of pocket. I will probably wait until the solution is found by Ledger or perhaps your engineers. But out of curiosity, can I simply import my recovery phrase into Trezor Model One and start transacting with my crypto?
Which Trezor model did you buy if I may ask? Thanks
Unfortunately all methods to recover your funds in a different wallet will require entering you entering the seed phrase or public/private keys to your addresses. It’s unfortunate and I understand your concern about security, it’s just there is no other way to “prove” to the wallet/network that you control those funds.
I personally would suggest moving them off of Ledger and somewhere else (like the Trezor you mentioned) to use from here forward. Ledger has not been reactive to Zcash user issues for months.
Model T or any model.
And this is not the only time Ledger has ignored Zcash upgrades. After NU5, Ledger users cannot access their ZEC for a year.
At this point, the best advice is to not use Ledger for Zcash. Ledger just don’t care.
Maybe someone has information How far they have advanced And how much longer we have to wait…? I have new error… “An exception occurred during transaction send: 16: mandatory-script-verify-flag-failed (Script evaluated without error but finished with a false/empty top stack element”
I’m so sick of this already
I’ve reported this to Ledger already. They haven’t responded whether I can share the ETA they disclosed over a private conversation. (Privacy is consent, as soon as they authorize me to I will update the community)
Don’t use Ledger
Everything works for me!finally!
From ledger:
Fix in LLD 2.102 has been shipped on 3rd March indeed.
Is this for desktop? I tried again today and it’s still not working.
Yes. Could you verify the version of your application? If you are up to date, send me the error I can relay to ledger devs. I also encourage to use the official ledger tech support to report any failure.
Seems like Ledger doesn’t support “version 4 or earlier” zcash outputs anymore. That means my outputs that are just 2 years old are no longer spendable from my hardware device. My setup is now bricked. I now have to move all my assets from my bulletproof setup to a backup and take a flight this month to get my seed phrase. I literally have to dig a 6 foot hole.
I will never hold altcoins in a hardware wallet again because you could be sitting on “old addresses” that aren’t spendable without revealing your password. It will even ruin any Bitcoin storage you had on the same seed. Never hold altcoins.
Dont waste your time. Use your 24 seed phrase and migrate to Trezor. Just transfer your zcash from ledger to trezor.
Any other messages ?
They said I’m cooked. I have to restore with my private keys because Ledger has no plans to fix it.
I bet it’ll work on another wallet but I am unable to do it until I “retrieve” my keys. It’s going to take a bit of planning to do so. I’m not happy.
welp it didn’t work. YWallet Sweep isn’t finding my addresses.
Guess I should write it off as a loss? Ledger said they don’t plan to support it. Is there really only one wallet with the sweep function? No other wallet? No other wallet with Ledger hardware wallet support?
Zcash transaction was less than 3 years ago and was already support deprecated. I’m not happy.
the coins are definitely recoverable somehow if they are in the seedphrase wallet.
hope so, think my last hope for now is waiting for the trezor to come in the mail and hope it can recover the addresses
