Ywallet improvement proposal

I would like to suggest an improvement to ywallet. I noticed that in the transaction confirmation field, only the beginning and end of the public key appear. It would be interesting if it were possible to check the entire address to avoid problems, being able to check letter by letter to make sure that the address is correct.

The probability of the last several characters matching and it being a different address is small.

Hi Team!

do you plan to support sweeping funds from WIP uncompressed private keys? Some wallets, like coin.space or Electrum, support that format for Bitcoin and Litecoin but not Zcash.

Thanks in advance

What’s the transaction confirmation field? You mean the transaction history?

Zcash supports native private keys, Ywallet supports importing them. Do you have some example?

@hanh When you create a transaction, entering the address and amount, when you proceed to complete the transaction, a screen appears showing a summary of the fees that will be applied. On this screen, the public key address only shows the beginning and end of the key. I heard that there is a scam in Bitcoin that manages to create identical keys, with the beginning and end identical, but changing the middle part of the key.

In this Bitcoin scam, the victim receives a small amount, with the address being identical (containing the public key with the same beginning and end) to the one he uses in everyday transactions. It seems that they have discovered ways to create identical keys by changing only the key medium. This is what happens with Bitcoin.

I don’t know if this scam actually exists, I’ve only heard about it, but it would be good practice to always check the public key in its entirety and not just the beginning and end. When we talk about money, you can never be too careful.

well, you are making the transaction, therefore you input the address. Can’t you check at that time ?

It’s about the same between Android and iOS: 5k + 5k.

In fact, if the person does not see it before the transaction, it does not mean that the person will check it at the time of the transaction. The error will continue regardless of whether they have the complete key or not.

That is right. The address should be checked at the time it is entered. The summary page is just to get a final confirmation from the user.
Besides, by showing 16 letters it should take thousand of years for a hacker to find a match.
