try make clean perhaps?
You’re building from source, right?

Ok, thanks. But I have no evidence that I am mining though.

From the mining guide: "You should see the following output in the debug log (~/.zcash/(NOT)testnet3/debug.log):

Zcash Miner started"

But I do not see this

Just asked to get the mining guide updated. I’ll confirm when ready.

Hi,

I have zcashd running and have:

  • You have validated 0 transactions!
  • You have contributed 0.0000 Sol/s on average to the network solution rate.
  • You have completed 0 Equihash solver runs.

Should’t it be contributing already?

I have this on my zcash.conf file (besides the rpcuser and rpcpassword):
gen=1
genproclimit=4
equihashsolver=tromp

Thanks

I cant start mining either. When gen=1, daemon disconnects after a minute.

Was this an upgrade from testnet? If so did you remove ~/.zcash/testnet3/?

I’ve removed all my testnet stuff and installed from your binaries for Ubuntu.

When I run the zcash-fetch-params I just get this:

Zcash - fetch-params.sh

Yeah I’m getting the same thing. My zcash.conf is:

addnode=mainnet.z.cash
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=mypassword
gen=1

Congrats! Will start mining now …

Ok… It just started to “contribute” all of a sudden… did not change anything though!

How long did it take to kick in?

More or less since my first post…maybe 15 to 20 min for me.

Edit: disregard below

“debug.log only seems to change if it is removed here. Perhaps a permissions problem?”

hmmm… perhaps worth trying to remove the addnode variable all together? set to default w/o it anyways.

(I’m not a dev so just throwing out suggestions til I can get some dev attention to this thread. :slight_smile: )

@paige Thanks for the post. I am now mining on Mainnet (^:

Just tested this on a VM on a MacBook Pro. Seems to work.

You have contributed 0.0251 Sol/s on average to the network solution rate

Ha, I don’t think this VM will be solving any blocks in the next few of centuries.

equihashsolver=tromp in .conf

start with -equihashsolver=tromp

Also set your genproclimit=

You and your heart node are happening, Zooko.

Send me some test coins? lol

Off to Bimini?
