Can anyone verify if they can send unsheilded ZEC from ledger w latest update now? It’s nuts that I was able to send one transaction - and then not again (from either cell or PC) - closes the app on ledger back to main screen & says disconnected
Yeah, Ledger support seems to think it’s because they don’t support “version 4 or earlier” zcash outputs. Kind of crazy that an output that’s just two years old gets deprecated and just doesn’t work anymore for what’s been over 3 months (and maybe never?). It feels like I’ve been rugged.
If I have to move all my assets to a new seed phrase so I can enter it in YWallet, I would be very disappointed. I’ll have to literally take a flight to get it later this month. I suppose the lesson is that storing Zcash is risky “long-term” because you could suddenly be using “old addresses” and your storage is bricked. I learned my lesson with “altcoins” this cycle; it’s Bitcoin-only from now on. No nonsense like this.
What crypto after like 10 years doesn’t have a wallet you can connect to a hardware device? I literally have to type my password in manually and move my other entire setup to be safe? That setup took years to craft. It’s much more bulletproof than the backup. Kind of a joke to be honest. You should never have confidence in storing anything but Bitcoin long-term. Even storing other cryptos on the same seed could destroy your BTC storage.
Could people actually having issues with ledger live desktop post their ledger live version, OS, and Zcash app version ? If you can you could DM me or if you can’t, ask a mod (@Shawn for example) to bump you so you do
Any ideas if your seed phrase isn’t showing any funds on Ywallet? Sweep isn’t finding the addresses. I tried high gap limits and handful of account index numbers.
There really isn’t any wallet you can use a Ledger hardware wallet with?
I guess my funds are actually just stuck until Ledger decides to support it which they say they don’t plan to. Guess I just write it off as a loss?
The main reason for balance discrepancies is because the wallet is not sync’d. However, if the wallet is not deriving the proper addresses at all, then the 0 balance it shows is likely correct. There is also the possibility that the sweep does work but that there are insufficient funds to make the transaction (you would see that error).
Ywallet used to have a Ledger interface but it was unpopular (people wanted the official version) and it didn’t persist through the version upgrades. The best way to do fully diy Zcash cold storage is also with Ywallet.
Sweep uses the funds being swept for paying the transaction fee right? Or do I need to add more to the first address in the wallet first?
And I’m hoping the “Key Derivation” part of Ywallet gets fixed because that might fix it too. Or it’s possible that since that is broken, sweep won’t work right either.
I was able to recover my ZEC with a new trezor. Their app automatically searched all used addresses for the recovery seed across a variety of cryptocurrencies upon setup. Was very straightforward.
earlier, upon one of ledger’s recent updates, i was able to send some of my ZEC off of ledger:
I am now trying to send the rest of my ZEC off of my ledger… when attempting to send my ZEC it automatically disconnects my zcash app and i get this “device disconnected” error screen.
