Cheers to @David_Heisenberg and the ZM team!
This is far and away my favorite content from your team, and in my opinion, it is also the most relevant to the current crypto/ socio/ political landscape.

This is great! Well done @David_Heisenberg and @37L!
Nice! Fees like the title needs to be a bit more…attractive? “Zcash: America’s Cryptocurrency” or things like this. MrBeasty
timely video
Perfect timing!!!
I love the fact that I feel enlightened every time I watch a @37L video. It seems to me that making content that is that clear and informative is a skilled craft.
I’m grateful that I benefit from that skill.
Just chiming in to say that this is so well done.
It’s been sad seeing so many people simping for Trump
Agree, politician fandoms are the worst. But I think the point there was that Zcash is American because it represents the American values that we all share here (freedom and privacy).
I think that message is good. And I think we need to be aware that we need attention mindshare in order to be able to, eventually, continue to fund privacy advancements.
ah yes, freedom and privacy, invented by USA
Your words, not mine
'Freedom and Privacy, from USA, delivered bwo Raytheon Predator drone strikes and the NSA surveillance apparatus"
I agree.
I am glad this video does not do that.
I like how it very clearly states that having a single-point of failure managing a cryptocurrency (whether that’s a state or a company) is antithetical to the idea of a cryptocurrency.
I like how the video clearly explains that the language of politicians trying to “own” cryptocurrencies is incoherent, and needs analysis.
The video doesn’t say this @conradoplg it says the reverse, it says:
“USA, invented by privacy and freedom”
I’m not a fan of USA, but I do think it has some nice hacks in its kernel that are worth reusing.
If we recall that classical Athens was a patriarchical slave-state, should we then conclude that Democracy is worthless?
Should we say that Athens wasn’t a Democracy?
All that having been said @37L I won’t be able to share this video with many of my friends because the initial image is of Trump, and that will end rational analysis.
It states that but then immediately doubles-down on “sure, Zcash is american”
That sums up much more eloquently whatever I was trying to say in this topic
Yeah… but the hack is that they’ve redefined “american” before that moment to mean “supports the 4th amendment”.
Given the environment… do you have a better approach?
There exists a discourse where the meaning of that term is being created… maybe that’s a discourse that we ought to contribute to?
I think promoting that understanding of “american” could help a lot of people… maybe prevent a lot of unnecessary suffering, by helping people to cultivate a coherent Value… instead of being manipulated by fear-reactions into harmful behaviors.
I think the goal should be to help people suffer less, from that perspective I think the video offers something.
Maybe we can think of “american” as an implementation (with some bugs) of the abstraction that the 4th amendment describes?
And when I say “some bugs”, I come from the perspective of a person who thinks that Snowden (and all non-violent drug offenders) should be pardoned right now.
And the borders should be eliminated… etc.
I understand how the video and language feels offensive, but I think the structure of the content deserves consideration.
Maybe I am missing the real argument?
I think the video is saying that “american” is just a way of saying “supports the 4th ammendment”. I think that’s a counter-narrative to some other definitions of “american” that might be woven into some stories that are concerning.
You can see it that way even if it is not the case
