We have reached the first checkpoint milestone for this grant.
During this initial phase, Zecwallet has mainly focused on (1) Improving infra and (2) Improving sync speed. So far, we have shipped:
- Fast Sync - Eliminates the startup sync for new wallets, so new users can start using wallets instantly.
- Price feeds into LightwalletD that fetch accurate historical prices (and accurate current prices)
- BlazeSync - Improves sync speed by >5x, allowing the entire blockchain to be synced in <60 seconds
- Infra: Unify LightwalletD, automated builds and published zcashd builds for MacOS, Linux and Windows
More details can be found in our regular updates:
- April 26th: New Zecwallet Lite wallets now start instantly (no sync!)
- May 3rd: Zcashd binaries for Win, MacOS and Linux from Zecwallet
- May 12th: Zecwallet Lite now monitors Tx building progress!
- May 19th: Accurate ZEC prices with Zecwallet
- June 14th: Zecwallet’s BlazeSync: Sync entire chain in < 60s!
