AMD Hardware GPU Questions

Use nheqminer (xenoncat) GitHub - nicehash/nheqminer: Equihash miner for NiceHash (i’m using Ubuntu linux, but it supports windows) with any old CPU that has 4 cores with 8 hyperthreads and over 3 GHz to get over 20 Sol/s. DDR3 1600 instead of 1333 helps a little more. I think 4 GB on 1 channel is enough. Add -t 10 to run 10 threads when you have an 8 hyperthread CPU. I don’t think yours has AVX, so it may not get much higher than 30 Sol/s. Are you sure it’s I7 6950K? I can’t find that. If it’s 12 threads with AVX2 it might do 50 Sol/s.

well, If you could find me a motherboard with 9 cpu sockets I’d support your statement 100% but that’s not possible, isn’t it?
9 cpus means 9 rigs = buying 9 mobos + 9 sticks of rams + 9 hdds/ssds + 9 psus, that’s way more expensive then buying let’s say 9 gpus and sticking them onto 2 or 3 rigs.

hell, I managed to get ~45 sol/s per 390x card using 2 genoil instances(no bios modding or oc) and an average power draw in is 140w(gpuz), imagine speeds with few more of these puppies…

Sorry its a Broadwell E 6850K 6 core. I just run 4 threads, 1 core per memory channel. Turned hyperthreading off. You think that is a mistake? The nheqminer is a pool miner only, not standalone, correct?

I’m not talking about buying CPUs and motherboards. I’m talking about just buying old desktops and putting them on a 12 port switch, and SSH’ing over to them from your main computer to install and run the miners. It sounds like a bad idea, but the numbers come out better as long as you can get only 45 Sol/s with the 390x

hmm, since you put it that way, that seems profitable enough…

Yes, I think it’s only a pool miner and I use https://zec.nanopool.org You probably need to have hyperthreading on and use 18 threads. Ignore people saying 75% of number of cores is the setting. My estimate is that you’ll get 60 Sol/s if you have DDR4 2400. Otherwise maybe 55.

Thanks for your advice.

yeah, 75% setting is optimal in case you mine cpu+gpu, if it’s only cpu set it to 100%

Ahhh, that explains it. I get as much as 10% better by using 125% of the hyperthreads.

depends on the miner
between 35-65

I have 3x of msi r9 390. Driver 16.6.2 , gnoil 5 , oc 1100 core clock and this is the result

ubuntu server 15.04 +fglrx 15.302
asus r9 390 OC 8GB
1150/1500

Can you post your results of testing on the latest Claymore ?

Wow… details?? 90H/s on Claymore 3.1 I assume with what card and what rom / settings? That’s redic… Temps looks high @ 85C ??
When will our Rx 470s, 480s hit these numbers… Only a matter a time before someone figures out how to unlock their potential…

increase your fan speed. your temp is too high at 85C and your fan is spinning only at 48%. spin it at 75% your temp might go down to 75C.

new stats SA v4
ubuntu server 15.04 +fglrx 15.302
asus r9 390 OC 8GB
1160/1500

On claymore miner with that clocks you’ll reach 102h/s.

send me link for setup i will test it? thanks

follow this thread. Its on windows. Post your hashrate afterwards.
