Introduction & Monthly Summary
This July, I focused on education and ecosystem awareness. My efforts were centered on simplifying important technical developments within the Zcash ecosystem through educational content while creating opportunities for the community to better understand key parts of the ecosystem.
One of the monthโs highlights was hosting an X Space with Paul Brigner, Chief Policy & Regulatory Officer at ZODL and newly elected member of the Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) Committee. The conversation was designed to help community members understand how ZCG works, how grant applications are evaluated, what makes a strong proposal, and the role the committee plays in supporting the growth of the Zcash ecosystem.

This month, my educational content focused on helping the community understand significant developments taking place within the Zcash ecosystem, including:
- Explaining the deprecation of Zcashd and what it means for node operators and the future direction of the network.
- Introducing Zakura & Ironwood, their purpose within the ecosystem, and why the transition matters.

Key Activities & Initiatives
X Space: Inside ZCG | A Conversation with @paulbrigner
I hosted an X Space with Paul Brigner, Chief Policy & Regulatory Officer at ZODL and newly elected member of the Zcash Community Grants Committee.
The main purpose of the conversation was to help the community understand how ZCG works and give prospective grant applicants practical guidance. Paul explained the role of the committee, how proposals are reviewed, what makes an application stronger, common mistakes applicants should avoid, and the kinds of projects the ecosystem still needs.
The conversation also gave community members direct access to a ZCG committee member and made the grant process easier to understand for people who may be interested in contributing to the ecosystem.
Community Growth & Engagement
This month, I continued engaging the Zcash community through educational content, conversations around major ecosystem developments, and direct interaction with people responding to the topics I covered.
The content on zcashd deprecation and Zakura created room for discussion around changes happening within the ecosystem and helped community members better understand developments that may otherwise feel too technical or difficult to follow.
The Space with Paul Brigner also gave the community an opportunity to ask questions directly, contribute to the discussion, and gain practical clarity on ZCG and the grant application process.
Challenges & Adjustments
One challenge this month was the pace and volume of developments across the Zcash ecosystem. Several important updates happened within a short period, which made it difficult to cover everything immediately without sacrificing clarity or accuracy.
To address this, I prioritised the most important topics first and planned content around those developments before publishing a broader ecosystem update that brings the monthโs major announcements together in one place. This approach makes it easier for community members to follow whatโs happening across the ecosystem without having to piece together updates from multiple sources.
Next Steps
Continue producing educational content that simplifies technical developments for broader audiences.
Organise additional community conversations featuring contributors from different parts of the Zcash ecosystem.
Continue identifying important ecosystem developments that require clearer explanations for the wider community.
Conclusion
July was centred on helping the community better understand important parts of the Zcash ecosystem, from major technical developments to the grant process that supports ecosystem growth.
By combining educational content with direct conversations involving ecosystem contributors, I continued working towards making Zcash more accessible, encouraging informed participation, and lowering the barrier for both new and existing community members to engage more deeply with the ecosystem.
