Have you checked that you have the correct amount of confirmations needed before attempting to send zcash
There is an issue with mining payouts, the Nano S correctly signs the inputs when spendnig, but the Zcashd node doesn’t accept them (those inputs are seen as missing).
Don’t mine directly to the device (this z-address to t-address issue is a real mess).
Our CTO will be looking into it, without any guarantee that we will find a solution
Does this mean that sending transactions from a z address to the ledger wallet will cause all funds in the wallet to be lost?
Edit: I can confirm that after having received a tx from a z address it is impossible to send any funds from the wallet.
Is there any way to recover those funds?
I have the same issue - I mined direct to nano S and now I can’t send any ZEC… ledger help said they are looking at solutions…
Yes, a fix is coming!
We’re running our tests this morning
Edit: see this fix → Fix Zcrash by btchip · Pull Request #21 · LedgerHQ/ledger-wallet-chrome · GitHub
Thanks for all your help Morveus, I love the NANO S and suggest to to anyone who asks about hardware wallets and mention it anytime crypto security comes up. I think a couple of my viewers have already purchased a nano from you since
thats great to see this will get fixed, please keep us update on when the app is fixed and ready for update using Ledger Manager
Thanks for the love
I’ll post here later today with some news about the fix, stay tuned!
awesome, thanks, cant wait to start mining ZCash to my ledger
anoter question - once the z-addr receiving is fixed, do you think it would be easy enough to add ZClassic as an official add in from Ledger Manager?
Thanks
Any update on the fix going to production?
Yes, we’re still running some tests: sending a tx built from a coinbase input, and from inputs sent by z-addresses.
The teams are on different timezones which is why we may be a bit late on our schedule (it’s hard to have everyone up at the same time)
Hi Morveus
So I have been learning more about hte Nano S and I have a few questions:
-
using MyEtherWallet - if i want to receive a token like REP to my ledger, what do I do?
Are tokens stored on the ledger Nano S? can I see them in the Ledger Wallet Ethereum? Or do I have to use MyEtherWallet? -
Electrum is only for an alternative BTC wallet in a windows/mac OSX/Linux system?
-
Mycelium is only for an alternative BTC wallet for android or iOS?
I need a phone with OTG to use Mycelium right? -
Are there any other mobile apps that I can use to view my ledger balances, send and receive cryptos? do the chrome apps work in android or only windows/linux/mac osx?
and 5. Do you plan to add ZClassic support in the future or is it the use of it too small at the moment?
I am making a video on how to get the wallets working in Ubuntu/Mint/Debian based Linux Distros And Arch based distros such as Antergos and Manjaro.
I would like to do as many tutorial videos for the Nano S as possible
Do you have any other suggestions other than the ideas listed in the questions above and the linux how to ?
Thanks
Hi Cryptomined,
using MyEtherWallet - if i want to receive a token like REP to my ledger, what do I do?
Are tokens stored on the ledger Nano S? can I see them in the Ledger Wallet Ethereum? Or do I have to use MyEtherWallet?
You have to use MyEtherWallet to see your tokens and spend them. To receive however, you simply need to have your ETH address written somewhere and use it to receive tokens or funds.
Electrum is only for an alternative BTC wallet in a windows/mac OSX/Linux system?
Electrum is a fully independent software wallet, but is compatible with our products. You can indeed use it as an alternative to our official apps.
Mycelium is only for an alternative BTC wallet for android or iOS?
I need a phone with OTG to use Mycelium right?
Mycelium is the only alternative to our official apps on Android (you can use the same wallet). Greenbits is also an alternative on Android, but doesn’t work the same way and you won’t be able to access the same wallet and funds.
You need a phone with OTG (most phones, really) but not on iOS. Simply put: Apple restricts almost everything and we cannot use the USB or the NFC interfaces, meaning no Nano, HW1, Unplugged or Nano S on iPhone and iPads. The Ledger Blue however, will be useable on iOS devices once we have a working iOS Bluetooth-enabled client application.
Are there any other mobile apps that I can use to view my ledger balances, send and receive cryptos? do the chrome apps work in android or only windows/linux/mac osx?
MyEtherWallet on Chrome Android, and maybe other upcoming integrations. But that’s a secret for now
You can use Sentinel for Android to view your Bitcoin balance, thanks to their xpub import feature.
and 5. Do you plan to add ZClassic support in the future or is it the use of it too small at the moment?
This is the first time someone asked for this coin, so I would say it is indeed to small at the moment. We have an semi-official rule: support can be added for Bitcoin forks if there are at least 100 potential first customers. This is mainly because we have to write an applet for Blue/Nano S, make changes to our client app, plus install and maintain backend servers (which costs money and human resources). No economically feasible for only one customer as you can guess.
I am making a video on how to get the wallets working in Ubuntu/Mint/Debian based Linux Distros And Arch based distros such as Antergos and Manjaro.
Thanks a lot
thanks for the answer I will probably be asking more as people ask me more questions.
One other question a user asked me was:
“Having to use Chrome Plug-ins bothers me a little. (Potential for “back-doors.”) Is there another way to operate the Nano S without Chrome plugins? Do you see it as a potential problem?”
Please let me know if you can add any thoughts to my answer.
my answer was:
Hi John, thanks for dropping by, so actually you and I probably have the same opinions about google, spying etc. now that out of the way, chrome is based on chromium, and chromium is open source (with chrome adding to that and making their actual browser closed source so we dont know what kind of spyware has actually been added to it). Chromium should be relatively safe given that its opensource - there should not be any backdoors in it. You can also use Chromodo by Comodo (famous for SSL certificates and antivirus/firewalls) so that is probably also a pretty safe option that you can rest assured is more than likely not spying on you. Chromodo is like chrome in that its based off of Chromium but it has its own extra added features for safety and privacy (unlike chrome which probably has added features for spying and getting around privacy LOL)
Now with that out of the way, the ledger software is not as much an extension plug-in as it is its own app. You do not need to have your browser open to use it - you only need it in stalled on your system. The apps themselves will open and work straight from your desktop without using the browser, so in my opinion, they are probably safe from any spying that your web-browser may do - they are just advanced web-apps.
I could ask ledger and see if they have anything to add, or if they are planing stand alone installers for the future. They said they are thinking about adding Monero, so I like that and hope they do.
I personally feel safer using them with Chromodo or Chromium installed and do not like having chrome installed (though suprisingly im on chrome in linux right now - i dont actually use the wallet software in this OS - for the OS’s i do use the software in I do not install the standard google chrome and use Chromodo)
Chromium can be found here:https://www.chromium.org/
and Chromodo can be found here:https://www.comodo.com/home/browsers-toolbars/chromodo-private-internet-browser.php?track=8247
I should also mention other ways you can use your Ledger Nano S, which include using MyEtherWallet.com and a different browser like Opera. You can also use Mycelium and Electruc for Bitcoin I think.

I dont know much about using Mycelium or Electrum, but I might try to use them in the next couple days and do tutorials on them if I can.
Using Chromium is a good alternative to Chrome if you really care about privacy.
Security-wise however, this won’t change anything: that’s the goal of a hardware wallet, requiring a physical confirmation before signing any transaction.
Please also note that Google has decided to end Chrome apps support. This means that our Chrome apps will disappear soon (2017) and that we’ll offer a fully standalone client instead.
thanks for the news :), I will let him know and update people on this in a future tutorial
Hello Morveus,
I would also like to throw some interested behind the zclassic wallet as well please. Not sure how much interest you have for this but I am another interested party.
Good news everyone, the Zcash application has been updated in the Ledger Manager (simply remove your current Zcash application and reinstall it to get the updated one).
The Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome application should be updated today!
Not sure how much interest you have for this but I am another interested party.
Unfortunately that makes only two people
The update is now available! (It may take some time to propagate)
Your Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome app should display “1.6.12” in Settings. If not, try closing and reopening the app in a few hours.
Don’t forget to update the Zcash application on your Nano S!
Confirmed working!! Thanks!
