yes you can try (at your own risk, trusting who sent you it)
470 8g, some say using the timing straps from the 480 8g mod works.
you can try using the DIY 480 8G video - your vram is the same as the 480 8g.
but others have said it did not work for them - might be they made a mistake, or that it works on some brands and not other brands. what card do you have?
you can watch both of the 480 vids, but DO NOT download the rom from jukebox and flash with that, the device ID, vender ID and other details do not match your card you will brick your card
I show the values used to get the results in polaris bios editor in those vids, so you can try to use those values by manually copying those numbers into your backed up rom (remember to save the edited rom as a different name) and then flash with the edits you have made.

just curious,… but if there is already a linux miner that gets the same hashrates as claymore miner… why would you use his miner in linux and pay a 2.5%? just wondering what your thinking…? if you just enjoy paying fees you can send me 10% also…

My first goal with the rx 470 8gb is to save energy and want the cards be as quiet as possible. It need some time to get all running gonna install win10 and a linux on my rigs, but also very busy with my business work…

good question - i didn’t realize there was a linux alternative until I read a bit more. I’m using ethos and was hoping it would incorporate a better miner. I just visited the IRC channel for ethos and they are going to push an update soon which has “silent army” miner in it.

yes I agree - this is like a microcosm of what happened in ETH mining. After the RX cards and the claymore miner appeared, every kid was suddenly obsessed about finding the best bios mod for their RX480. People spend more time tweaking than just letting the cards mine.

just pure sol/s that only jumps up or down by a sol or two ,

claymore miner is silent army with some fancy command addons you dont need and compiled into windows with a fee. Funny he was claiming 90+ sol/s to get everyone hyped then releases it at same as silent army yet people dont forget the hype and cant wait to pay fees to him. Comical !!!

Reason Claymore is popular is because its very fast on the Pitcairn and Tahiti’s. And they are the most common GPUs out there.
RX series is brand new and there aren’t that many of them out there compared to Pitcairn/Tahiti/Hawaii GPUs.
THey were bought in MASSIVE quantities during the Litecoin boom and many are still operational today.
What speeds do SA3 get with the 280x? If its 45Sol/s i’ll make the switch.

Mabey he using silent army 2 ( which was compiled to windows ages ago and used in afew zec miners)
Genoil was almost done doing it (silent army 3) but got fed up with the python scripts
Never said it was easy, was just making all the hyped up claymour sidekicks aware that there is a standalone miner that is better out on linux without a fee
