New Mining Rig(gtx 1060) OC?

oh and ye ye i know i said i pay much for electricity but the 4 case fans at the back using only 6-8W (1,5-2 each) so its a good deal for the big airflow they create

haha but hey. Atleast you have the serious look of the colours  haha makes others jealous when you show it off with colours lol.

and yea the wood would scare me a tad. But hey, easier to work with and cheaper to start off with.

and oh. So they don’t need to be in SLI to use multiple 1060s on one GPU. Well I just learnt something new then.

and yea. Cooling is a serious factor especially for better hash rates and performance.

You say you use nicehash miner. The gui one?

Could you provide me the link to the one you use?

Probably going to switch to nicehash after I get my 1 zcash payout.

true

no SLI is unnecessary but i would highly recommend you to use risers instead of plugging them into your mainboard atleast when you finally got some space for example in an open air rig because this way the whole power they take over the pcie lanes are not drained from the mainboard(risers have usually a power connector)

  • you can freely decide how far away the gpus should be to reduce heat this way

sure, im mining on windows 10 so its the easiest for me to just use their own programm: NiceHash - Leading Cryptocurrency Platform for Mining and Trading

Well that’s a relief. and yea. Purchased one the other day. Pretty sweet that you plug power into them. That’s handy.

Yea once I get a better space for them/open air rig. But that’s a good point indeed. It makes them look sweet to having them sit away from the board.

Sweet  Just the software I thought it was  perfect. I’ll keep that on the side for when I’ve hit 1 zcash.

Should be another month 1/2 if that to get to 1 zcash.already at .08 hashing at 500h/s.

yea and i think this way the mainboard gets bit lower stress, the main power comes from the 6/8pin connectors anyway but hey everything should be as effectively as possible!

nice i think you will like it they even offer the automatic p0 state for nvidia cards to make them a bit more effectively. and many other options

Yea. That’s precisely correct. That way the only true reason the mobo needs power. Is for the CPU really.

But yea. Whenever I hit my 1 zcash payout threshold I can finally switch over to nicehash.

The faster I can make an ROI. The faster I can buy more GPUS and see where I can start a rig build probably going to see if I can build one in the garage.

Hey,

Did a tad bid of testing. Just want to show everyone the update. Increased my core clock and core voltage a tad.
I now seem to not be dropping 300sol/s 300-315 sol/s with spikes of 320sol/s.

Next step is cooling and more GPUs ofc

Nice!

well my 65% power limit with 4700mhz memmory arent as stable as i thought  i need to do further tests

lol. Try increasing your core clock by like +50 or +100 and increase your core voltage like I did just a tiny little bit. I feel confident you will get a lot more stable hashrate as long as you can keep gpu cool.

Hello
I am new with the 1060 mining thing and I found alot of useful info here but I have some questions
first of all what pool you are using and what wallet?

second, I have modified some values in MSI AB and lowered the core power and overclocked the Memory to 4700 and these are the stable results I get from nicehash are they good?
should I care more about the GPU clock and power or the memory clock is the most important thing here?
these screen shots of my results
I am using Zotac the amp! plus version with the 9GBPS memory.

What hash speed are you getting per miner. As my 1060 overclocking only the memory I got MAYBE +10 hashes a second but it wasn’t a stable hashrate with just the memory overclocked. Once I increased the core clock by +50 or +100 and core voltage to +5. I was seeing 300-320 sol/s and stable.

Just purchased a 3 fan strix 1060 since I only have a single fan. Bought this 3 fan with profit I made back. Buying a 1080 for my buddy this week.

Going to be kicking it. Might just sell my single fan 1060. Not sure yet. As I still have a gtx 750 (1GB memory) I wanna try mining with. probably will be useless though.

None the less x2 1060s overclocked for 300-320sol/s means x2 is around 600-620sol/s Toss a 1080 in there and you got 1070sol/s.

Infact. If any of you want to buy a single fan 6gb 1060. I’ll give you a sweet deal. I bought it for $450. I’ll sell it to whoever since your all fellow miners. I’ll sell it to you for $300 but you pay the freignt or $225 if I can borrow your hashing power for 1-2 days.
And we split the freight. So you pay half and I pay half for freight or I pay the full freight depending how many days of hash time you can provide…

GPU mining is a blast.

yo,

hmm interesting that you get more hashpower by overclocking the core, since my 1060 is running at 2000mhz core out of the box it dont get anymore hashs from overclocking it even more. i get ALOT more mining boost from overclocking the memory to 4700mhz

i see you follow my example with that 3fan strix :sunglasses: well good luck! i made just good experience with them

lol Sup,

and yea I thought that was strange aswell. I just did it to test something and realized my hashspeed went higher and more stable. Was like well then. Gotta do it. OC the memory gave me a boost but made it jump around 5-20sol/s but never much above 302sol/s ocing the core and memory. It was stable above 300.

and haha yea. After seeing your strix and how cool the colours were. I was like. I gotta do it. And I want a 3 fan anyway. Also better option since I don’t fully a proper open air rig to put them in.

You should go for my deal. We can work out something even better.

hmm how did you unlocked the core voltage? i cant change it

:sweat_smile: i know it would have an effect to show off my cool colors :stuck_out_tongue: but for real i think they are really worth the money i would choose them anytime again

hmm we will see like i said in the pm im not quite sure right now wich cards i need for my next rigs

Pretty sure you go to settings and look for something that says unlock or lock core voltage. U want it unchecked than u can change the voltage and such. and haha yea the colour is wonderful. Kind of got me addicted. and yea. Very nice cards indeed. Checking pm

I have been reading that you cannot use 1060 in SLI. Are you using them both on the same rig and how?

deathlord uses multiple 1060s on one rig. I dont know how hes doing it. but apparently it works. Wish my damn riser/extender cards would get here so i could test this. Having to wait till mid July or augest is not fun

Bladedshard Do you think it is possible to hook a gtx 1070 oc with a 1060 on the same rig using a riser?

I have not tried doing something like that. But considering you can game using 2 different cards. Example. a 1080 for your main card and 1050ti for your physx card. I believe it is 100% possible to mine like that.

you dont have to use SLI for mining in fact it wont have any effect so far i know.
you just have to use pcie risers and if you use 2-4 gpus with pcie risers its mostly… plug and play. its getting serious when you begin to use 6-8 gpus on one mainboard then the plug and play thing is over  (you should use them anyway when mining with multiple cards to reduce heat)
