The person who told me about it is Malaysian and the domain name ends in .my, so maybe this one is also made by Malaysians, although the web page seems to be all English, without Bahasa Malay.

Somebody I know from the Bitcoin community tells me that HolyTransaction is one of the oldest web wallets.
They just announced that they’ve added Zcash support:

Nope. But I can tell you that I’ve still got the account I started with them some time ago and when I used it, it worked. I had a few questions for their staff and they were dealt with fairly quickly. The worst thing about their service was transaction limits but they can be lifted if you ask.

is there meanwhile a simple to use and userfriendly ZCash wallet out there that allows to do both z and t transactions? I mean, one that is mainstream ready and I could recommend to my grandmother?
The GUI wallet seems to do the job in terms of user friendliness, but installing is not mainstream ready. JAXX and many others only support t transactions, but no z transactions (which of course misses the whole point of ZCash).
Let me know if you have any recommendations or if you know of any developer team, that is currently building such wallet.

If you’re on a Mac it’s “mainstream ready”, as its a signed dmg that you drag-and-drop to install, at https://zcash4mac.com
As soon as the Windows port is done (there are still some issues, but I at least have a build now, even if there are troubles with libsnark), a similarly user friendly installer for Windows will be released by myself and my collaborators.
That sounds great! I am on windows. Please keep me and us here in the loop on you wallet release. Do you have a website where we can follow? I believe once a user friendly wallet is out, people will finally start using zcash as it was intended for - right now, that is for many users hardly possible.
My main website for my various zcash projects is at https://zcash.mercerweiss.com. Major projects have (or WILL have, as with Windows), their own sites, and I’ll most certainly be posting here when my Windows release is ready with a pointer to its URL.
I see an all-GUI, easy to install Zcash on Windows as kind of the Holy Grail right now, and have been putting most of my time into that right now. At the moment I’m in tough financial straights (dental bills combined with my sole current consulting project having…non-technical difficulties), so even a tiny donation would help the cause a LOT (I"m down to ~US$30…donation methods are listed on my site linked above).
With any luck I’ll be able to track down the platform-specific issue(s) that are keeping private transactions to verify on Windows within the next week.
