Zcash4win BETA is out!

For real security, I think major-league crypto investors use “cold storage” devices like Trezor. Or you could generate a paper wallet (GitHub - FiloSottile/zcash-mini: A minimal portable Zcash z-address generator for offline / paper wallets) and send you zcash there.

appdata is an environment variable. You should be able to type %appdata% into windows explorer. I think it usually maps to C:\Users<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\

Hello,

Yesterday i was using zcash4win for the first time. So i’ve maid a transaction and everything was ok, than i’ve made another transaction to the same address and the amount of zec’s moved from my wallet by did not come to the destination address. In my wallet the transaction is marked as unconfirmed. After that i made a third transaction to the same address and it is confirmed, but second transaction is not confirmed until now - 12 hours passed.

What should i do?

Having trouble with the new update 1.0.11. I keep getting "daemon is taking longer than expected to start… [number of seconds here]. I have used all previous versions without much problem…any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Jeff

now i got it working but is not my wallet, the new one is empty.

If you have access to the private key for your account, you can add it to your new wallet. What wallet do you have now?

Hello. When you try to back up the waQIP Shot - Screen 183llet or export the keys, there’s a error - screenshot attached. How to fix it?

do we need a new wallet version now that ver.1.0.12 is out?

I will be updating to track upstream 1.0.12 this weekend!

thank u very much sir!~

Ok…now that I added my private keys fot taddr and zaddr, my zaddress is showing a balance of .127014 and I didnt have anything in there. Taddr is working fine. Zaddr gives error when trying to send any amount from that. I dont know where this balance came from. Strange.

Going to try and remove all instances of zcash4win and try again.

everything is in the data directory, %AppData%\Zcash, un-installing and reinstalling zcash4win has NO effect on the blockchain data or your wallet AT ALL, just what’s in that folder. Let it sync to 100% in the lower right corner before declaring any balances wrong, too!

I am re syncing now and will let you know if it shows up again. Last time it was 100% synced when it showed the mystery balance.

if it is there, it is yours, even if someone somehow sent it to the wrong place by mistake (cut and paste accidents DO happen!), and looked at a block explorer for the txn might tell us something too. If it IS there, PM me the txn id and I can poke around the blockchain.

ok will do…thanks. I tried to send it and it always has an error.

Question…How can I look up a zaddr in block explorer. Will that work?

nope, there is no way to do that, which is the point of zaddr’s! You have
to generate or import the private key for a zaddr, and when your local
daemon scans the blockchain, it attempts to decrypt EVERY SHIELDED
TRANSACTION with each of the private keys for zaddrs in the wallet. Because
the only way to tell if a shielded transaction is for you is to attempt to
decrypt it.

Hey there.
I’m having the same problem described by people earlier, namely “daemon is taking longer than expected to start”. I’ve read in previous posts to delete files from %AppData%/Zcash/ but my folder is just empty, nothing there. Any help pls

what happens when you follow the command line startup instructions using PowerShell that are repeated a number of times up-thread?

Help please
