Looks like zcl is gaining momentum again… whats wromg with zec now? Is it cuz of btc increase?
ZCL on top
Zcl seems more profitable time to time… even now i earn more than $2 more on average… its seems crazy that a coin so small is more profitable…
Its the number of miners, as hash rate goes up, and more people sell, the profitability goes down. Price goes up, miners jump on the “profitability wagon”, bringing price down. There are a lot of miners out there, that exclusively with huge farms, that use alt coins as a mean to farm bitcoin.
I do not know about Zclassic. But I DO know about Ethereum classic. There is an analysis that explains why ETC in fact IS the real thing and ETH is a knockof.
If a blockchain is immutable, then it should stay immutable. Apart from a failed software-designer that sends buggy code out and collects 150.000.000 $ from gold-fevereish treasure seekers… and gets hacked. It gives me a Robin Hood feeling.

There’s an entirely different way to view this situation too. If Zclassic is a clone, with the founders reward removed + slow start removed, it essentially doubles down the cap to 42 million. After 4 years, the founders reward no longer applies to ZEC… you essentially have two digital assets that are virtually identical. So in essence if you support one, inadvertently you are supporting the other… In that case it is logical to support both, because the end goal is to have as many people using this technology as possible. For 7 billion people on this planet, 21 million coins are not enough, nor are 42 million, but scarcity is what gives any commodity it’s intrinsic value.
There are plenty of ZEC for 7 billion people. 2.1 quadrillion total units means we can each have 300,000 Zookos.
I’m not disagreeing with you that there’s room for more than one cryptocurrency and I like the Zcash company’s inclination to be inclusive, I only point out that your argument that we need more coins given the number of people on the planet isn’t a great way to illustrate that point.
@crosswire still around?
“Failed to load tweet”, apparently it didn’t go over very well! Pity
There were a few old familiar handles, interesting to see how peoples opinions change over time (its growth and its important to not use it “against”)
Classy Zclassic…
Is ZCL still a going concern? I feel like PirateChain is the most popular alt Zcash at the moment
I think Horizen, Komodo, and Pirate are the most popular.
Just found it amusing that a few months ago they were asking to put a “founders fee” back into Zclassic, now they call the results of the community polling “greedy” ![]()
They’ve gotten active on social media recently. The founder just forked Richard Heart’s Hex coin, and has been boasting to everyone about how easy it is to get rich in crypto, you just have to make fork coins and dump them. It’s gotten quite sad.
I can see why Horizen/Zencash people wanted to part ways with them as quick as possible.
For what it’s worth Rhett is my co-founder and is the brainchild of ZCL. He isn’t a developer or has really ever had a technical role in development. I did most of the bootstrapping and development during the first year of its launch before deciding to part ways and implement my own ideas within a daughter fork of ZCL. Shortly thereafter I ended up in jail & psychiatrically hospitalized but he was always supportive of me throughout the entire process. In this industry, loyalty is a pretty scarce thing and I have alot of mutual respect for him. It’s often difficult to relate to non-neurotypical people but I try to do my best to stay respectful and ask people to do the same.
While Rhett and I don’t agree on alot of things he recently asked me to get back involved in development so I’m back around now… Ultimately I’m aiming for the ZCL codebase to mirror and track ZEC network upgrades while offering a new layer-2 platform and a semi-autonomous DAO treasury. I’ve built substantial things in the past that have had a positive impact on both communities such as z-nomp (the first open-source mining pool) and am hoping to contribute once again.
See you all around ![]()
PS (and shameless plug): Also if you are interested in becoming a miner we run Equihash 192_7 which is modified from Zcash’s algorithm to break ASIC-profitability. I’m currently mining with a GeForce 1080 and make a little over 4 ZCL a day. The network hashrate is currently at a very near all-time low.
Hi @movrcx welcome to the forums, I am not familiar with your relationship with Zclassic so I will have to take your word for it.
Just so you know I’m not personally against Zclassic or any forks of Zcash. I’m impressed with much of the work that has been done on other chains like Horizon and Komodo, but of course I’m bit more attached to Zcash than most ![]()
On a personal note, it’s good to hear that you have overcome some tough challenges in your life and are looking to apply your skills back to cryptocurrency. Why not join t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶a̶r̶k̶ ̶s̶i̶d̶e̶ the Zcash development efforts? ECC has always been welcoming, and there are various Zcash Foundation projects like Zebrad that can use help, and there is funding to support such work.
Hi and thanks for the welcome @Shawn!
Joining Zcash development efforts sounds great actually… give me some time and I’ll see where I fit in with it. ![]()
Glad you’re doing better. You’re kind of a legend in the crypto world tbh. It’s taken me most of my life to understand there’s so many neuro-atypical people among us. (No idea correct lingo). Thanks for being patient with us all.
