Redirecting optiminer dev fees, I’m getting 180+ sol/s on my modded MSI RX470 4GB cards. 1080 sol per 6 card rig on 820w (0.76 Joule/sol). I can get nearly 200 sols on those cards adjusting my core mhz and core/mem voltages, but it has diminishing returns with power usage.
Its not rocket science, and it doesnt require some secret binary.
I paid his fees since release, and I feel I’ve given my fair share to his dev work (especially when it was 25% and ZEC price was higher). If he releases another linux version with improved sol rates, I will pay his dev fee again. But I dont agree with a 10% fee for eternity. Its too high, and hurts overall pool difficulty.
Just found that Claymore is MIT so the fee redirection is fair use. Regarding Optiminer license, though… I believe including an executable in the folder is, in fact, modification. @ME_JM1 Please add a disclaimer to this post about only using your software with legally modifiable software asap or I will be forced to remove this thread.
We’re still debating internally (moderators) about what to do regarding these derivatives… but one this is for certain: this forum cannot host software that would infringe on licenses. Please help us identify any violations of this.
I have locked the Github on the software. I will change the OP. Claymore has no copyright on his miner and as mentioned he has an MIT Licence posted because he uses mrb’s code.
Our executable can not be used (and will not function) with Optiminers software.
We do not want to harm the community. We are/were donating 25% of any and all income to mrb for his work. We are angry that Claymore did (and still does) use his code and only admitted it after he was caught.
It’s more about making a statement. When Claymore does something shady it is overlooked but when we divert his fees we are the bad guys.
If someone wants the software we are happy to send them a link
Another example: @neo asks for the “No Fee” version of our software but then gets angry when we do not give it to him.
Now he is on a rampage stating our software harms the community. It seems it is OK for him to use the No Fee software and that would not harm the community.
Talking about a double standard.
The reality is that our software does nothing to the community if people do not use it.
Rad. Thanks for taking in people’s concerns. I’m going to post a thread about derivative software later today to set things straight about what is permissible on the forum.
Hmm, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to donate 50% (or more) to mrb then? As he was the one actually developing the miner code vs. you only created the fee redirection and didn’t add any improvements which would e.g. increase the hashrate?
I hear what you are saying, I don’t disagree with your point. We would like to recoup some from our time as well. We would be happy to donate 50% to mrb if there is enough interest. As it stands it actually makes little to no profit.
Our source of profit at this point is using it on our farms. We have been contacted by a few large farms and they are Made aware that a portion of any transaction will be donated to mrb but nothing has been finalized
