Trying to move ZEC from Ledger Live

Any idea if ledger cares? If this gets fixed in the next few weeks I’ll probably wait - even month.

I go thru a full multi hour / day ledger setup process & it is used to secure a lot of other assets so I’d prefer to not burn it.

But if it’s going to keep the funds locked as long as it has shielded funds (6 months?) - then it may be worth getting that other hardware wallet & moving on.

After NU5 it took them a week or so. Clearly they don’t seem to care as much anymore, but I imagine it will be eventually be fixed.

They have a page about the issue https://support.ledger.com/article/An-exception-occurred-during-transaction-send-16-bad-tx-consensus-branch-id-mismatch-error (which amazingly gives the wrong advice of downloading the old vanilla ZecWallet Lite, which does not work with the new shielded app)

Losing the seed is quite different. Ledger setup and backup creation is actually quite involved so as to prevent you (as much as a prompt sequence can) from losing it. Without the seed, yes the funds could be considered locked but that is a highly unadvisable situation to find yourself in and you should backup your seed as soon as you are able to.

There are obviously different levels of “stuck” depending on the circumstances.

In the Ledger case someone can restore their ZEC via a different wallet but some may not be technically inclined enough or comfortable doing so. That’s quite different than completely losing your keys all together for which there is no recovery.

Does the Ledger situation suck? Yes

Are there currently workarounds that users can use to recover their funds if they absolutely cannot wait for Ledger to push a fix? Yes

Do those workarounds require a better than “average Joes” understanding of Zcash/wallets to take advantage of? Also Yes.

At this point we are splitting hairs by arguing about it.

What about the people who were misinformed and thought their funds were truly unmovable from their Ledger? Not everyone has the same needs. You don’t want to use a hot wallet - that is perfectly fine, but pushing your choice to others and claiming that it is the only safe option isn’t.

Besides, using “f*” isn’t less derogatory than the full word. We are not children, we know what you intend to write.

I usually don’t read what you say (I have you on ignore), but I was concerned about other users who may need their funds from their Ledger.

Guys, do you have any update on the topic?

Anyone manage to get out ZEC out of the Ledger?

I’ve tried now dozens of options and all of them failed. I mean different wallets I’ve tried to set up, but cannot send the ZEC out of any of them.
Ywallet was the closest, but my wallet index is 1, instead of default 0 and in the ywallet despite changing the configuration it doesnt work

Have you tried to sweep?

Yep, Ywallet has indexing options in the recovery tools.

Ive tried and now funds are gone… shit

Where it was transferred, can you help?

it went into the account that you have in ywallet. It imported your funds.

Ok, thanks. I found through explorer that it did. Now I need synchronization to complete.

Thanks

No updates on this issue?

Zcash Shielded app 4.2.3 is updated for NU6. Zcash (Regular) app is on 2.2.0 and I’m not sure if its updated yet.

This makes me want to sell all my Zcash and never look back. Never had an issue like this with any other coin!
