No updates yet, and I’m not importing my seed phrase to a hot wallet! Wtf!
Ledger has a problem with zcash withdrawals and the help doesn’t do anything about it, you have to buy Trezor T, enter the seed and withdraw the funds, it works
The wallets had plenty of notice about the network upgrade, Zcash developers can’t force the wallet maintainer to update their software.
Solution: choose a better hardware wallet like Trezor or Keystone.
I’m sorry you are going through this. We zcashers deserve better. Although Zcash still has UX issues like any other crypto, It’s not the coin. Is the ledger wallet.
Transparent Zcash is similar but still different than Bitcoin. Ledger has tried to adopt Zcash with the least possible effort by painting a Z into their Bitcoin app. That’s not how the transparent Zcash part of protocol works and they are suffering consequences of their own actions.
We’ve been trying (quite unsuccessfully to be honest) to solve this issue by paying their authorized vendors for developing a Zcash Shielded app and jumped through hoops to get it out and have a wallet that supports Zcash officially, fair and simple for Zodlers.
It hasn’t been enough. We are not giving up on you.
From one stuck-on-ledger to another, sorry for not having it nailed out already. Unfortunately it’s not only up to us.
There’s bright light at the end of this tunnel! Keystone support with Zashi is soon to be out. We will have more options in a few days thanks to @ElectricCoinCo and Zashi.
Thanks for calming my nerves lol… I’ve just been so frustrated with Zcash… between the difficult to use privacy features, lack of price action, move to Proof of Stake, constant need to try and please regulators.
The reason I’m still here is because I believe deep down that Zcash will eventually get it right, and make t address more accessible. This is why people actually hate Zcash and run to Monero.
It also doesn’t help that there is a ceo and he seems to have other interests prioritized! I always said I would never invest in a crypto with a clear cut ceo, and here I am lol
True enough… what do you think about OneKey? Have you or anyone you know tried it?
feedback is very important. It’s impossible to improve without it. Also being a privacy project has it’s drawbacks in terms of tech complexity, but also when we think about people voicing out their concerns. Zodlers are a silent bunch -and we respect that- and without their voices we can’t improve towards their expectations.
The community thinks Coin holder voting is a way to remediate this by providing an anonymous way to vote proposals and questions but hey, then we have these wallets that end up being gatekeepers. last vote was frustrated for many by Ledger presenting problems.
I feel that Zcash is ATH in decentralized collaboration at the moment and I hope we keep growing and broadening the spectrum of contributions all across the space.
Thank you again for your feedback and opinions!

Agree. It’s a free market. This is adequate Troubleshooting as well.
EDIT: add context and advice
Restoring from seed a HW wallet to another wallet is a high-risk operation. Although doesn’t involve any physical operations like going to the bank safe, imagine that you are taking high-value assets that you care about from one place to another.
- Don’t do this on a rush. take your time. When in doubt, choose to be prudent.
- Be well-rested, human error is most likely to happen when the mind and body don’t have proper rest and high energy. UX on crypto is so bad that small mistakes that in other context are repairable and negligible, can have high-stakes and risk. Minimize the changes of that happenign.
- Do your research using first hand resources (e.g: wallet vendors’ official documentation)
- Use computer and mobile devices that are tested to be secure.
ZEC is currently stored in the Ledger wallet T-address. I was waiting to transfer my Zcash to Keystone Wallet when it became available. If I wait, will Ledger provide an update? I have no intention of selling ZEC, so I have plenty of time.
I restored my ledger seed phrase to a Trezor and everything works. Based on comments on this thread, I’m going to use Trezor or Zashi wallet, and also look to use Keystone in the future.
My only option for safety reasons would be trezor but then I’d have to pay for an entirely new wallet …. I’m not importing to Zashi or any other hot wallet because I have other assets in there and don’t want to create an entirely new wallet. I’m pretty salty about all this as you can probably tell…
Hello, which version of Trezor did you use please?
I used a model T. Once you reset it or have one new, it asks how many words your recovery phrase has. I chose 24, since ledger uses a 24 word phrase. I think other models of Trezor would also support this recovery, as long as it’s been reset to factory using the Trezor suite software.
After recovery, I had to set a Pin. But to make the funds show up, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and then Trezor suite showed the funds. I was able to send them after that.
How about D’CENT wallet??? I have it.
Thanks I just bought a Trezor model T as you mentioned in your post and it worked.
Glad to hear it. I’m just going to stick to @daira advice earlier in this thread going forward for my storage. Going to stick with Trezor and then look forward to trying the new Keystone device with the Zashi app to manage the funds on it.
In new Zcash app 2.3.0 i can send my zec which send me from another adress
@Techno_sport Are you saying the your Ledger device is now fully working for you to send Zcash?
Can anyone else verify?
cc @pacu
Yes. I send 3 transactions
