I’d shut it down, restart the machine, and start it up again. If that doesn’t work can you paste the last 50 or so lines of %AppData%\Zcash\debug.log here?

Its still hung there? And is this (I take it) the latest 1.0.8 release?
If its still hanging you might need to delete the blocks you’ve downloaded so far and start from scratch…but before that let’s try adding another node to your config file add the line:
addnode=network.zcha.in
to the file %AppData%\Zcash\zcash.conf (this adds zchain’s public node, which has a LOT of peers), and then restart zcash4win (maybe restart windows again too).
Also, what Windows version are you on?
And no, the debug.log didn’t reveal anything sensitive, aside perhaps that your first name is probably Jeff 
How stable is this? How clear are T-transactions from Z-transactions for my 75 year old mother? How likely is she to lose coins by using this software? She’s just my litmus test for how successful companies are. I mean I sold Amazon, Apple, and Netflix when she started using them in full force. In this case, when she’s ABLE to use Zcash, it is a huge BUY signal. Her using it would definitely be a sell point. Her choosing any other security-coin before it would mean I chose the wrong coin.
It’s a good goal post for Zcash to use as a company. Zcash only needs to answer the following question. Why isn’t my mother using it? Another requirement on my stock decisions is that I never mention or recommend them to her.
so far I haven’t heard of any reports of coins being lost, but the “grandma test” is still a bridge too far imho…but I think that that goes for bitcoin and all cryptocoins at this point.
Things aren’t there yet on the merchant end of things with zcash, but stuff is in the works by a number of people/companies/projects to catch up with bitcoin on that front. Its gonna take a while, but zcash’s privacy features are unmatched. Give it some time

Hmmmmmm…I know that most 1.0.8 users have been upgrades, I’ll fire it up on a machine and have it sync from scratch on a totally fresh install and make sure that there isn’t some issue with 1.0.8 and that block!

I have four hard drives on my PC and drive E IS for wallets, can I install this on Drive E the whole wallet like i do my BTC and LTC wallet if so how ? . there is no option offered at install. and i looked and can’t seems to find a way in windows 10 creator to link it so it’s not a short cut .I can link it to drive E but only as a short cut i want it all stored on drive e .
Unfortunately no, it only supports being installed on C:\ right now…adding that as an option IS on the todo list

The version number is supposed to be in the toolbar, something broke that,
its a known bug and I’m looking into fixing it.
Auto updates on also on the todo list already, I’m still ramping up on the
installer maker’s options…Start Menu and Desktop shortcuts are on that
list, too
