One year ago, on June 30, 2025, Zcash Ghana began with a simple vision: to educate, grow, and build a thriving Zcash community in Ghana while promoting financial privacy for everyone.
Our journey started with the launch of our X (Twitter) account, which was proudly verified with the blue badge in July 2025. That same month, we hosted our first-ever Zcash Ghana X Space, bringing together privacy advocates and blockchain enthusiasts from across the ecosystem.
In August 2025, with the generous support and donations of community members, we successfully organized our first in-person meetup in Accra—a milestone that proved the Zcash community in Ghana was ready to grow.
As momentum increased, ZecHub believed in our vision and funded our community activities for the last quarter of 2025 (October–December). That support enabled us to organize more educational X Spaces, community meetups, and onboarding sessions across Ghana.
In 2026, we reached another major milestone when the Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) approved funding for our Q2 2026 activities (April–June). This support significantly expanded our impact, allowing us to host workshops, meetups, and educational events focused on financial privacy and shielded transactions.
Over the past year, together with our amazing community, we have:
Hosted multiple X Spaces featuring members of the global Zcash ecosystem.
Organized meetups and hands-on workshops across different locations in Ghana.
Introduced students, developers, entrepreneurs, and crypto enthusiasts to Zcash.
Successfully onboarded over 500 new users to the Zcash network.
Built one of Africa’s fastest-growing Zcash communities.
Looking Ahead
Our first year is only the beginning.
We’re currently putting collaborative partnerships in place to launch the pilot edition of the 4-Week Zcash Developers Residency Programme, where Ghanaian developers will learn to build privacy-preserving applications on the Zcash Protocol.
